Grö Ëw Kez (/gro˞/ /ɛw/ [different; other; distinct; various; unique] [rate]) is a temperate Town located in Smōntvöwōrtre̜lskek Parish, Bàze Logu Empire, within the Warrenese Shogunate.

The name Grö Ëw Kez is derived from the Wood Elvish language, as Grö Ëw Kez was founded by Jenny Ignun, who was culturaly Wood Elven.

Climate

Grö Ëw Kez has a yearly average temperature of 7°C (44°F), with its average temperature during the summer being an icy 26°C (78°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool -11°C (13°F). Grö Ëw Kez receives an average of 213 cm/y (83 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Grö Ëw Kez covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 2848 m (9343 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Grö Ëw Kez was founded durring the late 13th century in winter of the year 1173, by Jenny Ignun. The establishment of Grö Ëw Kez suffered from many setbacks, delays, and obsticles, most notably a group of Grö Ëw Kez which required millitary assistance exterminate before the community could finish being built.

Grö Ëw Kez was built using the conventions of Wood Elven durring the late 13th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Grö Ëw Kez is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature plaster covered brickwork used to form structures with an emphasis on symmetry, proportion, geometry and the regularity of parts. Orderly arrangements of columns, pilasters and lintels, as well as the use of semicircular arches, hemispherical domes, niches and aediculae can be found everywhere such that only size of building and yard can be used to measure the general prosparity of a given building's owners due to a general wealthy feeling the style gives off.

Grö Ëw Kez is buildings are grouped arround an odd layout of crampt cobblestone streets, which seems to be based on an overlapping squair patern such that there are small squares at the cornor of every bigger square. Sometimes buildings exist in the smaller squaires, other times they are open spaces, or occupied by temporary structures. The town has a fortified albit thin brick wall. The wall has most of the feeatures of a typical castle wall, just on a much smaller scale and and budget. Notably brick isn't a particuarly soild choice for resisting siege weapons. Grö Ëw Kez's wall wouldn't hinder a proper army, but it is more than sufishent for bandits and other small marauding groups. The town's monster and outlaw focused fortifications have recently undergone extensive repairs and renovations, such that the repairwork is imeadiently apparent and can be spotted due to the diffring ages of materials. One can't help but wonder what brought the need for those repairs to the town.

A look around Grö Ëw Kez seems to be home to a quite vibrant and boisterous community. Everywhere one looks they can see people going out their daily business with a smile and a spring in their step. Children play loudly in the streets, causing untold havoc as youth are want and allowed to do.

Civic Infrastructure

Grö Ëw Kez has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Grö Ëw Kez. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Grö Ëw Kez's parks.

Grö Ëw Kez has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Grö Ëw Kez.

Grö Ëw Kez has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Grö Ëw Kez has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Grö Ëw Kez's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Grö Ëw Kez possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Town. Grö Ëw Kez's grid is powered by a direct leyline tap.

Grö Ëw Kez's old civil lighting system was converted to Galvanic Lamps recently, and expanded to provide nighttime illumination to all city streets.

Grö Ëw Kez has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Grö Ëw Kez's natural decorations nor waterways.

Grö Ëw Kez has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Grö Ëw Kez has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

Grö Ëw Kez's chapel was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by towering round arches, massive stone and brickwork, small windows, thick walls, and a propensity for housing art and sculpture depicting mythological scenes. The building's general shape would be a clever and ascetic combination of geometric shapes, which would be blended together by joining elements. The style's decorative features were largely internal rather than external and incorporated semicircular arches for windows, doors, and arcades; barrel or groin vaults to support the roof of the nave; massive piers and walls, with few windows, to contain the outward thrust of the vaults; side aisles with galleries above them..

Grö Ëw Kez's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in winter and involves reenactments to channel Elven High Magic energies of tier 3 via recitation of scripture.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century Grö Ëw Kez was rocked by a string of powerful winter storms. The worst of the disaster struck The storm coated everything in a thick layer of ice and freezing countless animals, plants, and people to death. Grö Ëw Kez lost 161 people, and 152 livestock in the disaster.. The disaster is remembered as the Suffering Screams, after the sounds of the winds.
